Atlanta National Golf Club was formed in the mid-1980’s. The founders desired to create a
club exclusively for golfers and one that would honor the great traditions of the game of golf.
They selected one of the greatest players and gentlemen of the game, Gene Sarazen,
as the embodiment of what the Club would stand for. To this day, a statue of Mr. Sarazen,
sculpted by renowned artist George Lundeen, stands as a reminder of the foundation of the

The USGA borrowed this statue in 1992 to use as the centerpiece of an exhibit honoring
